ABSTRACT

Shuffle the photos and show them to the child one at a time, asking ‘What is this animal called?’ Carefully note the response in each case including ‘don’t knows’, hesitations, and self-corrections. Then lay out all twelve photos in front of the child and ask the child to ‘Point to a picture of a cat’, ‘Point to a picture of a giraffe’ and so on until you have used all ten animal names. Record all responses.
