ABSTRACT

Jean Hampton was Professor of Philosophy at the University of Arizona. She wrote extensively on issues in political and legal philosophy, and was developing a distinct feminist perspective on some age-old questions about society and the individual. The interview was recorded during a recent visit to Bristol. During her time with us she was in good health and spirits. We were therefore shocked and saddened to hear of her sudden death, in France, as a result of a cerebral haemorrhage.
