ABSTRACT

quasi-bilingual dictionary A type of REFERENCE WORK in which the words of a less accessible language (such as archaic Akkadian) are explained by means of a more accessible language (such as English). Its structure follows that of the MONOLINGUAL DICTIONARY, the headwords being vocabulary items from the language which is the object of the description, but the language used for providing the lexicographic information in the entries is a language familiar to the scholar-user.
