ABSTRACT

Just as in any other organisation, so in museums: efficient administration is almost more important than anything else. Efficiency consists of:

• systems that achieve their aims with the least trouble and least paperwork; • people understanding the systems and knowing who should do what; • people doing their part of the work promptly and accurately; • people doing their part of the work intelligently, making sure that the aims

of the museum, and not the administrative systems themselves, are being served.
