ABSTRACT

Many museums are able to make their facilities available to outside organisations in order to attract potential new audiences and generate additional income. Much will depend on what range of facilities your museum can provide. Display areas or lecture theatres/rooms may be booked for a variety of events ranging from education to entertainment – awards ceremonies, dance performances, conferences and seminars, lectures, meetings and gatherings, theatrical presentations, musical performances, craft fairs, corporate entertainment and many others. There are however a number of ethical and practical issues to be borne in mind, which we discuss here.
