Unit 58. Environmental monitoring and control: air pollution/insect and pest attack

Air pollution and insects and pests are agents of deterioration in museum collections. As with light and RH (see Units 56-7), it is essential to control them to ensure the long-term safekeeping of collections. Museum managers must be aware of their potential to damage collections and ensure that conditions in display and storage areas are regularly monitored.
