It is important to ensure that items on loan from other museums or from private individuals are separately insured by the museum. Items on loan to the museum will need to be insured by the museum at a value agreed with the lender. Items on loan from the museum also need to be insured by the borrower. Remember that items in transit, for example as part of a touring exhibition or as loans from or to the museum, also need to be protected by adequate insurance cover for the transit period.
