ABSTRACT

I seem to have had five big crises as I learned to teach. After each crisis, my views and attitudes concerning teaching underwent a major overhaul… [the first crisis was at the start of the course]. Back in August I wasn’t sure what teaching was going to be all about. I remember my greatest concern was classroom management. What would I do if I couldn’t get the kids to pay attention and behave?… I remember not being too worried about making science interesting… I also didn’t worry about cool demos… or many of the other issues that we all wanted to cover that week in August. I think the only other issue that worried me was how would I be able to entertain the kids for 75 minutes…
