In this chapter we consider television viewing, computer use and reading on the evening prior to the survey. We consider the relationship between children’s use of their leisure time for these different activities, and relate the survey findings to the age and sex of the children surveyed. We report briefly some of the interview findings on gender, computer use and reading. The Endpiece raises points about attitudes to the relationship between literacy and the different media.
