ABSTRACT

This chapter outlines various barriers to successful reprocessing and solutions to those barriers. It also discusses techniques for building new patterns after reprocessing. This includes how to create new life goals, and how to develop a new identity (empoweredbased identity versus a victim-based identity). Testing of the new goals and identities is encouraged in a similar fashion as “behavioral experiments” used in cognitive-behavioral therapy. A technique called “counter images” is presented to prepare clients for new experiences.
