ABSTRACT

This text is a work of international political economy (IPE). The main aim of this chapter is to introduce the theoretical perspectives from the IPE field that can be applied to the European Union (EU)—East Asia economic relationship. Such an exercise serves two main purposes. First, it provides an analytical framework in which events and developments covered in subsequent chapters can be better understood. Second, it presents an additional introductory overview of the relationship to that offered by Chapter 2.
