ABSTRACT
A reasonably comprehensive knowledge of seismic waves is important as evidence concerning our knowledge of the Earth’s interior and also in relation to the variable effects each type of wave has on the surface system. Both speed and wave movement need emphasis. A good way of demonstrating the types of wave is to use a stretched ‘slinky’ spring.
