ABSTRACT
As an overview chapter the main themes in the book are introduced. The instructor needs to emphasize that these themes need consideration regarding topical issues in the subsequent chapters. A key area that should be fully understood is the general interaction of the resource use system between humans and the natural environment, especially the pollution outcomes and feedback links.
