ABSTRACT
When dismantled, Plato’s story is seen to have a foundation of proto-history. Events that happened on the threshold of history were remembered with imperfect accuracy and later recorded with less - yet they are still recognizable. The earliest of these proto-historic elements are those describing the bronze age Aegean civilization that reached its zenith in the sixteenth century BC .
