ABSTRACT
It’s easy to forget that music is fundamentally about a special way of listening – and
that developing skills of special listening is the prime aim of music education. Simply
taking part in singing and playing or listening to recorded music does not
automatically guarantee that children’s aural awareness is being developed, although
the children are busy and appear to be musically active. How can we teach to ensure
that children learn to listen deeply and responsively?
