ABSTRACT

Lepidus received in 46 BC the rewards for his loyal and important services performed in support of Julius Caesar over the previous several years. The glory of Lepidus’ consulship was enhanced by the honor of serving in this consummate office of the Roman Republic with Caesar as his colleague. In addition, the dictator granted Lepidus a triumph for his handling of the struggle between Marcellus and Cassius in Farther Spain and, probably later in the year, named him as his magister equitum.
