ABSTRACT
A book of this sort inevitably raises a number of implications that extend the discussion beyond traditional housing studies and integrate housing issues into wider social policy. One of these-the relationship between housing allowances and social security-was indicated at the end of the preceding chapter. The importance of relating policy strategy in different social policy fields to one another is that it is only by so doing that the long-term structuring of the welfare state can be understood.
