ABSTRACT

As we outlined in Chapter 5, assessment is undertaken for a variety of reasons. Many psychoeducational tests that focus on cognitive ability, skills, and processes have been designed largely for use with special populations, such as children with learning difficulties or developmental disabilities, although they have application to normally achieving children, adolescents, and adults. In this chapter we review a number of tests and testing procedures that foeus on cognitive processes and which provide information for instructional design. We begin by examining two test batteries aimed at elaborating the information processing capabilities of individuals.
