ABSTRACT

In the previous chapter we saw how important it was to have a clear job description and a related person specification. Job descriptions need to be re-examined and renegotiated from time to time. Similarly colleagues need the opportunity to talk through their work and professional development with team leaders or other senior staff. One method of achieving this is staff appraisal. A well-thought-out job description is a useful starting point for staff appraisal.
