ABSTRACT

Having an idea for a composition is a good start, but you need technical ability in order to realize your dreams. Conversely, having a good technical command without having anything to say is equally unfulfilling. The perfect combination is a brilliant concept together with a polished technique. This chapter sets out some technical exercises to help you to develop some means of expressing your musical ideas. When considering these exercises, you might find it beneficial to review the corresponding section in Chapter 4.
