Framed by Fiction: Malay Literary Characters in the Literatures of Europe and Asia Muhammad Haji Salleh

There has been quite a substantial amount of historical writing from the early period on Malaysia and the Malay Archipelago by Fa Hsien and I-Ching (China), Sulaiman (Middle East), the anonymous author of Jataka and Kartha Sarit Sagara (India), Ptolemy and Pliny (Greece), Pigafetta (Italy) and of course the Portuguese and British, in the forms of records and personal sketches.
