ABSTRACT

A. Safarov, F. Kadyrov and A. Baimuradov do not have strong political affiliations; they see themselves as close observers of the evolution of the Soviet scene, in the broad sense. Baimuradov in particular often shared his feelings with me until his hospitalisation in Moscow in March 1990. Unfortunately the data end at this moment, coinciding with the riots which bathed Dushanbe in blood. Such questions as Birlik (Uzbek movement) cannot be dealt with here.
