ABSTRACT

Saudi Arabia is the largest exporter and importer in the Arab world, the second largest exporter in the Islamic world after Malaysia and its fifth largest importer after that country, Turkey, Indonesia and the UAE. In global terms the kingdom ranks as the twentieth largest exporting country, with exports worth over 68 billion dollars in 2001, and the thirty-ninth importer with imports worth just over 32 billion dollars in 2000 according to data from the World Trade Organisation.1
