ABSTRACT
THEtempleofGerfHusenisonthewestbankofthe Nile,andispartlyrock-hewn,partlybuilt.Itisoneof themanytempleswithwhichRamesesIIenrichedNubia, andisoftensaidtobeapoorandinferiorcopyofthe greatrocktempleofAbuSimbel.Unfortunatelytheexact yearinwhichRamesesfoundedeithertempleisunknown, sothatitisimpossibletobecertainfromthedatealone whetherGerfHusenisacopy,aprototype,orevenan independentcreation.Butacomparisonoftheplansof thetwotemplesshowsthattheouterpartsofthetemple ofGerfHusenhavenoparallelatAbuSimbel,andthe innerchambersofthetwoarealikeonlyinhavingOsirid columnsofthePharaohwhowasresponsibleforboth temples(pl.LVI,2).
