ABSTRACT

THIS article presents two sculpture reconstructions, each with a central part of the figure missing. Both represent individuals who lived during the XIIth Dynasty, the period to which my interest was initially drawn by Cyril Aldred's article in the Metropolitan Museum Journal, publishing the museum's Middle Kingdom royal holdings. 1 Cyril Aldred's contributions to Egyptology have changed the way we look at pharaonic art. This article is dedicated to his memory.
