ABSTRACT
In Chapter 1 we examined the question of how foreign workers enter Japan, and we will now proceed to the situation they face in different occupations. First we will consider the sex and entertainment industry. Japanese women have increasingly avoided employment in this field, but the social demand for these services remains as high as ever. Foreign women thus emerged to fill the gap. It is now quite common to find such women in amusement quarters throughout Japan.
