Inthefollowingchapterinformationonreproductiveparameters ofcaptivehoubarabustardsispresented.Thereproductive cycleofwildhoubaraisstilllargelyunknown.Timingofnesting appearstobequitevariableacrossthespecies'breedingrange, butisconcentratedinthespringmonths.InNorthAfricaeggs areusuallylaidinMarch-April(Cramp&Simmons1980), althoughaccordingtoHeimdeBalzacandMayaud(1962)egglayingcanoccurbetweenJanuaryandJune.InSyriaeggsare foundfromMarchtoMay(Cramp&Simmons1980)andinthe southernformerUSSRfromApriltoJune(Dement'ev&Gladkov1968).Occasionally,eggshavebeenfoundinAlgeriaasearly asNovember,oraslateasJune(Cramp&Simmons1980).
