ABSTRACT
Proceduresusedinchickrearingwillinfluencethesuitabilityof chickseitherforbreedingstock,orforreleaseintothewild. Importantfactorsincludediet,whichinfluencesphysicaldevelopment,andthesocialenvironmentduringrearing,whichmay determinefuturesurvivalskillsandsocialintegrationonceinthe wild.Twomethodswereusedtorearchicks:(1)byfemalescaged inthebreedingunit,and(2)byhand.
