ABSTRACT

Perhaps the most distinguished of them ws Ch ng Mong-ju, who had led the mission to Japan in 1377. Kongmin had appointed him to follow Yi Saek at the National Academy, where he haa been active in promoting local colleges for the less privileged in each of the five districts of the capital and in the country areas. He was banished for a time by Yi In-im because of his anti-Mongol views but later, in 1384 and again in 1386, was sent as envoy to the Ming, where he was well received by the Emperor.
