peoplewhowishedtoconceal theirid€l1tity,"amigasa"which coveredtheentirehead,faceand all.*Thesehatswereusuallymade ofrush,andbeingverydeeplooked somethinglikeinvertedbaskets. Thetwentytea-housEsarestillto beseeninGo-jikken-machi,butthe rushhatsformerlysuppliedarecon-
spicuousbytheirabsence.Inpassing,itmaybenotedthatit wasacustomforthesehousestobebuiltwithoutsecondstoriesfacingthestreet.
