viz:-Koshi-joro,Tsubone·;jot·o,andKirimise-;joro.Afterthe openingofthenew(Shin)Yoshiwara,Hashi-;joroandTsuboneJoroceasedtoexist,whileatthesameperiod(Genroku=16881703)Sancha-;joroandUmecha-;jorocameintoexistence. AftertheeraofKwansei(1789-1800)theclassesinexistence were:-Yobi-dashi,Chusan,Tsuke-mawashi,Zashiki-rnocM, Heya-rnochi,andKirim,ise-joro.Particularsofthesechanges arementionedinvariousoldbooksandcanalsobegathered fromthelistsofcourtesanspublishedinthosetimes.Asto theoriginofthenamesTayu,Koshi,1'subone,etc.,theseterms appeartohavebeenderivedfromasimilarclassificationin vogueinKyoto,andifmyreadersarecurioustotracethese derivationstheywilldowelltorefertoabookcalledthe Dobo-Goyen(iiPlmmmJ)forfurtherinformation.
