ABSTRACT
Inthe11thyearofGenroku(1698)hesecuredthe contracttoconstructthetemplesatUeno,andlargesumsof moneyflowedintothegreatmerchant'scoffers.OnthisoccasionagainBunzaemoninvitedtheGovernmentofficialsconcernedtogooutwithhimontheriverSumida,andheengaged anumberofminorpoetsandactorstobearthemcompany andenliventheproceedings.Thepartysetoutfromthe Kanda-gawaandlandedontheothersideoftheSumida-gawa topayavisittotheInariShrineatMimeguri,thedaybeing enlivenedbyadisplayoffire-works,etc.Ithappenedthat yearthattherehadbeenagreatdroughtinthelandandnotwithstandingtheprayersofferedforrainnotadropfell.
