ABSTRACT

The head of the medical services of Indo-China is the InspectorGeneral of Public Health, under whose direction are the Provincial Health Officers and their subordinate staffs. In general, except in some of the larger centres, there is no separation into Medical Officers concerned only with curative medicine, and Health Officers concerned only with sanitation. Since the native expects any doctor to treat any disease, the policy adopted by the French has been to make medical officers responsible for the purely public health aspects of medical work in addition to hospital practice.
