ABSTRACT

I T was not really in Palma bu t in Barcelona, in the ruins of the House of the Inquisition, where I saw these dungeons, which were openings in walls fourteen feet thick. It is very possible that there were no prisoners in those in Palma when the people demolished them. I apologize, therefore, if I have offended Majorcan susceptibilities by the poetic licence which I have taken in the passage that I have just written.
