ABSTRACT

When a baby is born, day and hour are noted for the "Eight characters" and are submitted to an astrologer for a horoscope. About four years ago the seer's report was wholly unpropitious, and he stated that the boy would bring no credit to the family, and had better be given away. The Old Man received the verdict from his womenfolk and thought the matter over for a couple of days when he announced that it was a nice baby anyway, and should be kept regardless of its possible influences on the family fortunes.
