The craftsman was commissioned to remedy these defects and produced an elaborate design surmounted by dragons and smothered in gilt. The tablet also bears the superscription of tile God of Wealth and, though he gets no mention, the Earth God (T'u Ti ±i't!! ) shares the altar. He undoubtedly resides in the pointed stones, emblems of fertility on either side of the tablet, for occasionally pieces of ginger are hung up to acquaint the divinity of the answer to prayer in the birth of a child. This is the alternative to pasting up red cut-outs-of babies on the walls of the Earth God's temple, and fresh ginger in a shrine always indicates an increase in the population.
