ABSTRACT

The winners of shrines then assemble at the temple, and the processions home start as soon as their Lion escorts are available. Each party is played back with the appropriate honours and is followed by an admiring crowd of relatives and supporters. By sundown there is an eerie silence after a day of continuous detonations, and the streets are comparatively deserted. Towards the end the Lions were showing signs of wear and tear, and their antics were less exuberant, but they stayed the course and deserved well of the community.
