ABSTRACT

It is very clear, my Lord, that this family have reason bitterly to regret having ever come into the manu facturing districts.

The external appearance of this mill, and the cottages near, is very much superior to what we find in large manufacturing towns; and from what I saw and heard, I should say the interior bears a corresponding character. Messrs. J o n e s , B r o t h e r s , and Co., I was told, prefer employing the poor families who belong to the parish ; and consequently there is not that shifting and changing from place to place, to which the manufacturing labourers generally are too much accustomed.
