ABSTRACT

In the preceding chapters I have tried to delineate some of the many factors which influence the behaviour of hunter-gatherers and the ways in which that behaviour is reflected in the archaeological record. In later chapters we shall look at examples of evidence for such behaviour in order to see what may be learned about the life of Late Stone Age huntergatherers in the British Isles. To facilitate this we need a framework within which to marshal the evidence. This framework needs to be three dimensional in that it has to allow for consideration of the behavioural, spatial and temporal aspects of the evidence.
