ABSTRACT
W E have come down to the year of 1891, the eve of the four hundredth anniversary of the landing of Columbus. Mighty preparations were in progress for the great Columbian Exposition in Chicago. By a somewhat indirect route Columbus, an accredited discoverer of America, became posthumously also an agency in the discovery of the empire of the screen. Let us trace the chain of events and men.
