ABSTRACT

THE issue between the costly new feature drama, personified by Mary Pickford, and the old nickelodeon type short picture of the program grind, typified by the "Broncho Billy" one reelers~ was now in 1915 to be fought out in internecine strife in both the Mutual Film Corporation, oldest of the Independent federa· tions and in the older Patents Company.General Film group, the Trust. Both Mutual and General were destined to sufI er seces· sion of their progressive elements-while the old guard lingered to a slow fade·out.
