ABSTRACT
To form a just opinion of the sociology and government of the Eastern Libyans, it is best to begin with a consideration of the family. After an examination of the evidence on this question, on marriage, and on the duties and status of women, the problem of government, in its various aspects, can be discussed more profitably.
