ABSTRACT

H AVING made up my mind to go into the Kikuyu country, I set about preparing my safari, for which I decided to take with me

only seven boys, natives who knew the language, to act as porters and carry the goods I was taking with me for trading with the Kikuyu. Having persuad~ed them that it would be all right, I armed myself with a rifle and fifty rounds of ammunition, and set out to explore the unknown.
