RiversofMarocco.5 throughtheplains,passeswithinsixmilesofFas.Another stream,proceedingfromthesouthofFas,passesthroughthe city,anddischargesitselfintothisriver:thisstreamisofso muchvaluetotheFasces,fromsupplyingthetownwithwater., thatitiscalled(WedelJuhor)theriverofpearls.SomeauxiliarystreamsproceedingfromtheterritoryofTezzafallinto theSebooinLiali(theperiodbeforementioned).Thisriveris impassableexceptinboats,oronrafts.AtMeheduma,or Mamora,whereitenterstheocean,itisalarge,deep,and navigablestream;buttheportbeingevacuated,foreigncommerceisannihilated)andlittleshippinghasbeenadmitted sincethePortuguezequittedtheplace.Thisriverabounds morethananyotherinthatrichanddelicatef1shcalledshebbel.Iftherewereanyencouragementtoindustryinthis country,cornmightbeconveyeduptheScbootoFasatavery lowcharge,whereasitisnowtransportedtothatpopulous cityoncamels,theexpenseofthehireofwhichoftenexceeds theoriginalcostofthegrain.
