ABSTRACT

The message which we left at the end of Chapter Nine has been picked up not only by the Rangoon operator for whom it was intended but also by one of the intercept stations described in Chapter Ten. The Allied operator has been standing by for the scheduled transmissions on the Meiktila-Rangoon frequencies which he has been assigned to cover, and he intercepts the signal. It now acquires further clerical prefixes, showing the frequencies, call-signs, day and time of interception, quality and strength of signal, and so forth, and is passed to the codebreaking unit.
