ABSTRACT
The character of east London and south-west Essex fascism was largely shaped by local developments, as we shall see in later chapters. But in other respects key elements of its structure, organisation and policy were defined by developments at the centre. Between 1932 and 1938 the BUF would go through a series of metamorphoses with regard to its administrative, organisational and ideological profile. These matters will be discussed in the following chapter.
