ABSTRACT

This chapter examines al-Khuli's perception of the development, role and position of intellectuals in Egyptian society during different historical periods. The role and importance attached by al-Khuli to intellectuals in Egypt in the light of social changes in the early 1960s are also considered. An attempt is made to trace al-Khuli's role and activity as an intellectual within the framework of the regime. Methodologically, this analysis required the use of certain relevant sociological approaches.
