ABSTRACT

The following account is Lutfi al-Khuli's retrospective viewpoint of the various stages in the process of implementing socialism in Egypt during the 1960s. In a series of interviews with the author, which took place in September-October 1994, he revealed previously unknown information about his relationship with both Haikal and Nasser. He also analyses his own crucial role in Egypt's short-lived socialist experience and sheds new light on the period, enabling us to obtain a better grasp of his socio-political outlook at the time.
