ABSTRACT

Lincoln Allison was born in West Hartlepool in 1946. He was educated at Lancaster Royal Grammar School and at University and Nuffield Colleges in Oxford. Since 1969 he has been employed at the University of Warwick where, at the time of writing, he is Reader in Politics, Director of the Warwick Centre for the Study of Sport in Society and South Asia Liaison Officer. He has also held visiting posts at Stanford (California), Melbourne (Australia), Chulalongkorn (Thailand) and Tblisi (Georgia) and lectured at more than 50 universities across the globe. He is author or editor of a dozen books and more than 700 articles, his outlets ranging from newspapers and popular magazines to academic journals.
