Everyone needs to communicate, and indeed British Telecom persistently encourage the use of its activities by the advertising slogan 'it's good to talk'. The growth in telecommunications and the size and financial strength of the companies that are emerging in the United Kingdom and globally is phenomenal. For example, the third largest mobile telephone company in the UK is Orange. It has never made a profit, yet it has a stock market value of more than £10 billion,' this from a company that was created in 1994. Its network covers 98 per cent of Britain's population and 80 per cent of its geographic area.
